🦋 Butterfly Room
Welcome to our Butterfly Room, where children continue to grow in confidence, independence and curiosity. Building on the foundations developed in Caterpillars, the Butterfly Room provides rich learning experiences that encourage children to think, explore, communicate and become increasingly ready for their next stage of learning.
Children move into the Butterfly Room when they are emotionally and developmentally ready. This transition is not based solely on age. We carefully consider each child's confidence, independence, communication skills, relationships and overall readiness to ensure they continue to thrive in an environment that best meets their needs.
🦋 Making the Move from Caterpillars
Every child develops at their own pace. Our staff carefully monitor children's emotional wellbeing, social development and independence before considering a move to the Butterfly Room. We want every child to feel confident, secure and excited about their next steps, ensuring the transition is positive and successful.
🌱 Developing Independence
As children grow, we encourage them to become increasingly independent. They are supported to make choices, manage personal belongings, use the toilet with greater confidence, solve simple problems, take responsibility for resources and develop resilience when facing new challenges.
📚 Preparing for Future Learning
Children take part in a rich and ambitious curriculum that develops communication and language, early mathematics, physical development, creativity, literacy and understanding of the world. Through carefully planned activities and purposeful play, children begin to develop the skills and confidence needed for their future journey into Reception.
🤝 Building Friendships and Confidence
The Butterfly Room helps children develop strong friendships, collaborate with others, express their ideas and feelings, and become confident communicators. Through shared experiences and positive relationships, children learn to be kind, respectful and considerate members of their nursery community.
🌳 Learning Through Exploration
Children continue to learn through play and exploration, with opportunities to investigate, create, experiment and discover both indoors and outdoors. Our environment encourages curiosity, problem-solving and independent thinking while fostering a love of learning.
🏡 Working in Partnership with Families
Strong partnerships between home and nursery remain central to children's success. We work closely with parents to celebrate achievements, share progress and ensure every child receives the support they need to flourish both in nursery and at home.
