Last week, the junior children of Burscough Village Primary School wowed audiences with their spectacular production of Disney’s The Lion King JR.
The show was performed to four sell-out audiences over three days, bringing families, friends and the wider Burscough community together to celebrate the children’s talent, confidence and teamwork.
The children were introduced to the production just six weeks ago during a workshop with the wonderful team at West Lancs Performing Arts. Since then, they have worked incredibly hard to bring the African savanna to life through song, dance, movement and storytelling.
Disney’s The Lion King JR. tells the much-loved story of Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters on a journey filled with courage, friendship and responsibility. The production featured favourite songs including “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “He Lives in You,” and “Hakuna Matata.”
Year 6 led the show with confidence and commitment, taking on the main roles and embracing the challenge of learning songs, lines, choreography and stage directions. They were brilliantly supported by the school dance team and choir, who played a pivotal role in adding energy, atmosphere and magic to each performance.
Mrs Yates, Headteacher, commented: “Our school productions have become a very special part of life at Burscough Village Primary School. Each year, the children amaze us with their talent, confidence and commitment. Disney’s The Lion King JR. is a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to shine, work together and create memories that will stay with them long after they leave primary school.”
The production was a true community effort. Props and costumes were created by the Year 6 class, with much-appreciated support from parents and grandparents. Staff also gave their time, creativity and encouragement to help make the experience so special for the children.
Audiences were treated to a colourful, uplifting and memorable performance, and the school is incredibly proud of every child involved. The sell-out success reflects not only the children’s talent, but also the fantastic support of BVPS families and the local community.
With powerful music, colourful characters and an inspiring message, Disney’s The Lion King JR. proved to be another unforgettable production for Burscough Village Primary School.
