Burscough Village Primary School (BVPS) is delighted to announce the launch of its ground-breaking “Community Unity Through Sports” project, a major new initiative set to transform the heart of the village. This development will see the creation of a multi-functional sporting zone, designed as an inclusive space where children, families, and residents of all ages can come together to enjoy physical activity, games, and community spirit.

The school has already secured substantial support for this project, receiving £35,000 in grant funding from Burscough Town Council and Sport England, alongside a generous £5,000 donation from the BVPS PTFA, raised through events such as the colour run. Additional contributions from local families and proceeds from the recent Annie Jr. production have enabled Phase 1 of the plan to commence, while ongoing fundraising efforts continue to build momentum.

Phase 2 of the project will focus on the development of a climbing area specifically designed for children, further enhancing the range of activities available. Every raffle ticket sold, every bake sale hosted, and each act of generosity from the community brings this vision closer to reality. The school warmly welcomes ideas, donations, and offers of support from anyone who wishes to contribute to this inspiring endeavour.

The “Community Unity Through Sports” initiative is about much more than physical exercise. BVPS recognises the vital role that activity plays in supporting well-being, building confidence, and fostering friendships. The new sports zone will provide a safe, friendly environment where memories can be made, teams built, and smiles shared - not just today, but for years to come.

This is just the beginning. BVPS plans to host a range of events and activities, including football matches, running races, and family fitness days, ensuring there are opportunities for everyone to get involved. Whether through volunteering, sharing talents, or simply coming along to cheer, every member of the community is encouraged to take part.

Anyone interested in learning more or wishing to support the project is invited to contact Burscough Village Primary School. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a lasting legacy - creating a space where all can be active, healthy, and united for generations to come.
