At Burscough Village Primary School and Nursery we believe that every child is unique and should be supported in a nurturing, caring environment so they can achieve their best. However, this does not happen without a team of inclusive educators championing the needs of all the children and the leader of this team is our ‘super Senco’, Mrs Beevers.

Rachel Beevers, completed her Master qualification in SEN Coordination (NASENCO) in November 2024. This was no easy task, with being a class teacher, a busy SEND coordinator and Mum of two active boys! Her hard work and dedication to increase her knowledge and skills in this area and provide exemplar support for our children with additional needs should not go unrecognised.

The whole school knows how amazingly lucky we are to have Mrs Beevers who is passionate in ensuring that all children can achieve their full potential. We were excited to find out she has been shortlisted for the Divine Days – Commitment to Inclusive Education Champion.

On Thursday 12th December, Rachel and along with the BVPS team attended the awards evening at Briars Hall, Burscough. The fun filled evening, started off with a showcase from the Divine Inspiration Dancers before moving onto the awards, presented by Katie Whitehead, CEO. We are delighted to share that Rachel Beevers was voted as this year’s winner.

Rachel commented: “I am extremely honoured to receive the award for commitment to inclusive education and would like to thank everyone who voted for me. This award should be shared with the team around me, our school has an amazing, supportive headteacher, Anna Yates, who makes our vision possible, it is for every teacher, teaching assistant, office staff and welfare who are all committed to inclusion.”

Anna Yates, Headteacher, praised “We are very lucky to have Rachel Beevers championing inclusive child development at Burscough Village. Parents are moving to our school due to her expertise and the impact that the whole school has on our pupils. Her passion and commitment should be celebrated, and we are thrilled that her hard work was recognised at the Divine Days awards on Thursday evening.”
