The dedication, hard work, and compassion of our Year 6 pupils have truly shone this year as five outstanding children from BVPS were honoured with the prestigious Ormskirk Junior Rotary Award. This fantastic achievement highlights the students’ commitment to personal growth, community involvement, and embracing new challenges.

About the Ormskirk Junior Rotary Award

The Ormskirk Junior Rotary Award is a respected programme designed for Year 6 students, offering opportunities to develop valuable skills, help their community, and explore new experiences. The award structure echoes the esteemed Duke of Edinburgh Award, tailored for younger pupils. Over the course of the year, children participate in four key areas, dedicating ten weeks to each:

  • Community Service: Volunteering with groups like the Divine Days community dance group, assisting relatives, and supporting Rainbows.
  • Learning a New Skill: Taking on challenges such as learning a new language and cooking family meals.
  • Physical Exercise: Committing to regular physical activities to promote well-being and teamwork.
  • Social and Cultural Experience: Attending theatre shows such as Hamilton and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and exploring different religions, cultures, and the arts.

A Community Effort

This award is made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of the children, their familie, school staff, and community organisations, and the Ormskirk Rotary Club. The award ceremony at Ormskirk Civic Hall took place on Thursday 10th July, which brought together families and local leaders to celebrate the achievements of these remarkable pupils.

Well Done BVPS!

We are incredibly proud of our five BVPS stars for their enthusiasm, determination, and willingness to help others. Their success in completing the Ormskirk Junior Rotary Award is an inspiration to us all, reminding the whole school community what can be achieved through kindness, curiosity, and commitment.

Congratulations to all involved – you have made your school and community proud!
